About
Val Thorens is Europe's highest ski resort at 2,300m base and 3,200m summit — part of the famous Les Trois Vallées (Three Valleys) ski area. The altitude guarantees snow from November to May. When the lower resorts in the Alps are fighting for cover, Val Thorens is invariably skiing in excellent conditions.
The Mountain
Cime de Caron to Val Thorens village — 1,000m vertical descent from the summit cable car.
Ideal Conditions
Mediterranean system pushing moisture north through the Alps, cold temperatures locking in glacier snow.

Local Knowledge
01
Val Thorens has no road access beyond the resort — everything is ski-in/ski-out, which is unusual and convenient.
02
The altitude (2300m base) means reliable snow from November to May — best snow quality in the Three Valleys.
03
The Three Valleys pass covers 600km of runs and 330 lifts — take the whole week to explore it properly.
04
Caron cable car to 3200m gives access to off-piste bowls that stay untracked even on busy weeks.
05
Book transfers from Geneva in advance — the road up is long and taxi prices are high without pre-booking.
