About
Skeleton Bay in Namibia produces one of the longest, most perfect left-hand barrels in the world — up to 2km of hollow tube in one of the most remote and desolate landscapes imaginable. This is a bucket list mission for serious surfers only.
The Break
The main Skeleton Bay sandbar — a freight train left that barrels for hundreds of metres. Time it perfectly or watch.
Ideal conditions:SW groundswell 6-12ft, strong SE offshore winds, specific sandbar formation
Local Tips
1
This is a serious expedition — bring everything you need, the nearest town is far away.
2
The SE wind that makes the wave perfect also makes it freezing — bring a thick wetsuit.
3
The Benguela Current makes the water cold despite the African latitude — 4/3mm minimum.
4
The Skeleton Coast is one of the most dramatic landscapes on earth — bring a camera.
5
This wave requires specific conditions — flexibility in your travel dates is essential.
