About

Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa is one of Indonesia's most consistent and accessible world-class surf destinations. A beach break peak that offers both a right and a left, with nearby spots including Periscopes and Nungas, making it one of the best all-round surf areas in the archipelago.

The Break

The main Lakey Peak — take off in the middle and go right or left depending on the swell. Periscopes to the south for a more powerful right.

Fly into Bima (BMU) via Bali. 1hr drive to Lakey Beach. Stay at one of the surf camps directly on the beach.

Saturday

Dawn patrol Lakey Peak. Afternoon check Periscopes and Nungas. Fresh grilled fish dinner at the camp.

Sunday

Morning session, drive back to Bima, fly home.

Day 1

Arrive Bima, drive to Lakey Beach.

Day 2

Full day Lakey Peak — get to know all the breaks.

Day 3

Periscopes all day — powerful right for experienced surfers.

Day 4

Nungas — long walling rights when the swell is smaller.

Rest day — explore the local village and surrounding hills.

Day 6

Back to Lakey Peak for final sessions.

Day 7

Fly home via Bali.

Local Knowledge

The surf camps at Lakey Beach are excellent value — meals included, right on the break.

June-August is peak season — busy but conditions are most consistent.

Sumbawa is more traditional than Bali — dress modestly when in the villages.

The local food is excellent — fresh seafood every night.

Bring reef boots — Periscopes in particular has a sharp reef.
