Local Knowledge
01
Hiring a certified guide is essential — the mountain is unpatrolled, unmarked, with serious hazards including crevasses and avalanche terrain.
02
The telepherique only has two stations — you are committed to long descents with no bail-out options.
03
Book guides and accommodation well in advance — La Grave has very limited lodging capacity.
04
The village has limited amenities — bring specialized gear from Grenoble or Bourg d'Oisans.
05
Check weather and avalanche conditions obsessively — the lift often doesn't run due to wind.
