About

Courmayeur sits on the Italian side of Mont Blanc and offers some of the best off-piste skiing in Europe via the legendary Vallée Blanche descent. The resort has 100km of piste but the real draw is the vast off-piste terrain and the Italian culture — food, wine, and style are exceptional.

The Mountain

Vallée Blanche — the 20km glacier descent through the heart of the Mont Blanc massif.

Ideal Conditions

High pressure after a storm, fresh snow on the glacier, good visibility for the Vallée Blanche.

Local Knowledge
01
The Vallée Blanche requires a guide — it's a glacier descent with real crevasse hazard.
02
Courmayeur is smaller and more intimate than Chamonix just over the tunnel — much less crowded.
03
The food is outstanding — Aosta Valley has its own cuisine, outstanding cheese, and local wines.
04
The new Skyway Monte Bianco cable car to Punta Helbronner is a marvel of engineering — don't skip it.
05
Chamonix is 20 minutes away through the Mont Blanc tunnel — do both resorts in one trip.
