CHICAMA

The longest left-hand wave in the world

About

Chicama holds the Guinness World Record for the longest surfable wave on earth — up to 4km of rideable left-hand pointbreak on the right swell. Remote, raw, and absolutely unique.

The Break

The main Chicama point — paddle for the sets and ride as far as you can. A boat or mototaxi takes you back up.

Ideal conditions:SW swell 6-10ft, light SE offshore winds, mid tide
Local Tips
1
Bring extra fins and leashes — the wave is long and wipeouts happen far from the peak.
2
The mototaxi shuttle back up the point is part of the experience — negotiate a day rate.
3
Peru is very affordable — great ceviche and food for next to nothing.
4
The wave works best at mid to high tide — check local knowledge on arrival.
